A US bedding and mattress retailer has been forced to close after its viral ad mocking the 9/11 Twin Towers terror attack was branded one of the most offensive ads ever.

Even 15 years on, the attack is (understandably) still extremely raw for most Americans, so you really have to ask what the hell were the staff at Miracle Mattress in San Antonio in Texas thinking?

Check the offending out here.

“What better way to remember 9/11 than with a Twin Tower Sale?” the overly cheerful Miracle Mattress manager asks the camera before two staffers fall into two stacked towers of mattresses.

And, you guessed it, the outrage was so swift and severe that poor old Miracle Mattress has had to shut its doors indefinitely.

The store’s owner, Mike Bonanno, said in a statement on Facebook: “We will be silent through the 9/11 Anniversary to avoid any further distractions from a day of recognition and remembrance for the victims and their families.” Read Mike’s full statement above.
