Amazon Pulls New York Subway Advertisement Featuring Nazi & Imperial Japan Insignia

To promote Amazon Prime’s TV Show The Man In The High Castle, New York Subways have been covered in Nazi and Imperial Japan symbols which (understandably) people are not impressed.

The Man In The High Castle is an Amazon drama that has gained critical acclaim since Amazon released ten episodes earlier this month. The show is based on a 1962 novel by Philip K. Dick, Castle, which imagines an alternative history where the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States.

The ads do not feature swastika. Instead, benches in 42nd Street subway cars were covered in the Nazi Germany’s Iron Eagle symbol and the Rising Sun emblem of Imperial Japan. People travelling on the subway took to Twitter to complain:

The ad was set to run until December 14, but Amazon has decided to take down the ads down after Mayor Bill de Blasio called on the company to do so.
