Facebook’s revenue from advertising was up 82% to $2.27 billion compared to the same time last year, with its total revenue up 72% to $2.5 billion.

According to the release from Facebook, the results are the strongest year-on-year advertising results for the social networking site in three years.

More than half of the ad revenue result (59%) now comes from mobile, which is up from the 30% in the first quarter for 2013.

The company has also announced chief financial officer, David Ebersman, will step down later this year to be succeeded by David Wehner.

Investment in ad products continues to be a high priority for Facebook with targeting, simplicity and measurement the three areas of focus.

Looking towards Facebook more generally, one billion people are using Facebook on a mobile device every month, which is up 34% from this time last year.

Overall, nearly 1.28 billion people are using the social platform every month, up 15% from last year, with 63% of those people using the social platform daily (roughly 802 million).
