Unicorns and flying puppies for your mum?

Unicorns and flying puppies for your mum?

How do you thank an awesome mum?

One of Australia’s leading charities for child protection, Barnardos Australia, is posing just that question in its search for the Barnardos Mother of the Year.

The 30 second advert that has just launched poses a number of different options for just how to thank an awesome mum.

Maybe tattoos, sky-writing, a parade, a parade of magical unicorns and flying puppies.

Or maybe just nominating your mother for Barnardos search, as the advert says “it won’t cost anything, but what you say will mean everything.”

Produced by Purpose Agency, the campaign integrates the refreshed feel of Barnardos while carrying on the green palette to align with the company’s colours.

“We all know that mum’s deserve much more than just Mother’s Day, so we saw a unique opportunity to position Barnardos Mother of the Year as the ultimate thanks,” Dan Mercer, creative director at Purpose Agency, said.

And viewing this concept through the lens of a child resulted in the manifestation of a fantastical and highly exaggerated world where, while incredible, still couldn’t possibly be enough to say thanks.

“Although… I do think a unicorn would be a pretty cool gift.”

Introduced 20 years ago, the campaign recognises the enormous amount of work and support mothers provide for their families and is the only nationally recognised award of its stature.

Check out the advert below and nominate your mum now right here as nominations close February 15, 2014.
