An account manager with ad agency M&C Saatchi has been crowned the new Sydney Rose of Tralee.

Newly crowned Rose, Fiona O’Sullivan (pictured), told B&T that she was honoured to represent the harbour city and M&C at the international Rose of Tralee festival to take place in Ireland in August.

The annual festival is celebrated among Irish communities all over the world and brings together Roses from various international cities across the globe, including all major Australian centres.  

O’Sullivan, 26, was crowned the city’s new Rose at a selection ball at the Sofitel Sydney recently and she’ll become the 50th to represent at the festival.

The 26-year-old, from Cork City, moved to Sydney with her boyfriend in early 2011 and said she was thrilled to win the competition.

“Growing up in Ireland, I watched the Rose of Tralee year in year out with my family, and like most young girls and boys, it’s something that I always dreamed I’d be involved in,” she said.

O’Sullivan chose to sing Scottish ballad Caledonia as part of her routine, with the staff at M&C recently treated to a recital of the winning song at its office in Sydney, and in doing so raised more than $1000  towards the 21-strong M&C Saatchi team taking part in the Ride to Conquer Cancer charity event.
