Mince is the theme, Status Quo is the preferred artist in the latest ad for Coles to tie in with the MasterChef sponsorship and spruik the latest round of “Down, down” savings.

The ageing rockers reprise the refrain in the 90 second ad, once again playing instruments made out of Big Red Hands, this time in front of an enthusiastic audience chanting "we want mince" and ends with Rick Parfitt turning to bandmate Francis Rossi and saying "that mince, it's marvellous".

The decision to knock a dollar off the price of a kilo of mince has been tied in with the insight searches for beef mince recipes are up 60% on last year, with customers already buying 27m kgs of mince each year from the supermarket chain.

The latest ad from Big Red will debut tonight during MasterChef on Channel Ten.
