EXCLUSIVE: B&T can reveal the name of the six agencies in the running for creative duties for Sydney’s renowned New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Following the announcement last month that pitch had kicked off for the NYE gig, the City of Sydney has confirmed the current incumbent, Imagination Australia, will face competition to retain the work from five other agencies looking to win the new three year contract spanning 2014 to 2016 events.
This list includes The Projects (pictured), who recently won big new experiential work with Samsung Electrics, Accolade Communications, AGB Events, George P Johnson, and Michael Cassel Group.
The City of Sydney confirmed to B&T that submissions from all six agencies are under consideration and a final decision on a winning pitch will be made in due course. It would not comment on how much the work is valued at.
Sydney’s NYE creative work is considered one of the biggest in Australia, with the winning agency responsible for engaging a creative ambassador, a theme, a musical soundtrack to accompany the fireworks, all art designs, and the logo and Harbour Bridge effect.
Organisers estimated the 2012 celebrations were watched by a billion people around the world, and 1.3m crowded into the Sydney Harbour area alone, making it one of the biggest annual events on earth.
