SwissMiss blog founder and acclaimed designer Tina Roth Eisenberg has called on her fellow creatives to stamp out haters “creeping in” to the community.

In a keynote presentation at the South by SouthWest festival, Eisenberg (pictured) revealed “ignoring haters” is one of her eleven rules to live and work by, urging others to do the same.

Vitriolic anonymous commenting on industry websites is a big issue for several senior creative industry figures in Australia, with M&C Saatchi’s Tom McFarlane describing them as a “hotbed of hate” turning young talent from the industry.

She said: “Haters get none of my time. I know what it takes to build something and if haters come in and can’t even offer constructive criticism, I’ve got no time for it.

“I’ve seen a lot of hating creeping in recently and I hope we as a community can stem that trend.”

She said she turned the negativity to a positive, using it to inspire some designs for her co-owned rub on tattoo business Tattly.

Eisenberg was also the founder of the Creative Mornings breakfast events, which have spread from the New York base to 45 places across the world.

She said these would continue to be free for the attendees, but admitted she was “surprised” at how big it got so quickly.

On the popular TeuxDeax app, she said it was moving from its current free model to a revamped paid-for version, because of the amount of time her team had invested into the project.
