Rhonda's brake foot bling up for grabs

The romance between AAMI’s Rhonda and Ketut has engrossed the nation, now to help fans farewell the couple – and raise funds for BeyondBlue – Switch Digital is auctioning Rhonda’s brake foot bling.

To help fans achieve some closure AAMI has handed Rhonda’s sparkly silver shoe to Switch Digital to auction on eBay.

The funds raised through the 10 day auction will go to Beyond Blue.

Hamish Blake and Andy Lee have added a comedic twist to the campaign in a video which shows off the power of the show. Like Smeagol from Lord of the Rings, Hamish is seen struggling with the power of the show.

Richard Riboni, marketing manager AAMI, said: “We have been proud to work with Rhonda and Ketut over the last 3 years. A great deal of care was taken to deliver a communications message that was entertaining, relevant and showed respect for our audiences across all media. Hamish & Andy were also a big help in developing loveable advertising characters with identities outside standard advertising formats over this period.”

The Rhonda and Ketut characters were created by Ogilvy Melbourne for the AAMI brand. The romance captured Australia’s attention when Rhonda took a trip to Bali and kept fans engrossed through the ups and downs including a love triangle with Mr Trent Toogood.

Fans were then asked to vote for the person they thought Rhonda should wind up with. In the end Ketut was the clear favourite with 88,105 votes compared to Toogood’s 66,079.

The latest ad (below)featuring the duo launched in April and showed Ketut reuniting Rhonda with her “brake foot bling”.

The pair also featured in a remix.

Josh Richards, managing partner at Switch Digital, added: “We have worked with AAMI and Hamish & Andy for the past three years and have used social media to create rich stories with fans around Rhonda and Ketut that reflect the values of AAMI. We are excited to partner with eBay to support Beyond Blue and give one of the devoted fans out there the opportunity to own a piece of Australia’s favourite love story.”

The eBay auction launches today and will run for the next 10 days here.
