NAB launches 20 language radio stream for AFL

NAB is launching its 2013 AFL finals campaign creating FootifyFM, recruiting 20 bilingual broadcasters to commentate on the Grand Final.

Created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, the broadcasts will be streamed through the internet, with languages including Greek, German, Spanish, Croation, Punjabi and Mandarin.

The 20 have been recruited in a campaign over the last few weeks, having to demonstrate a love of the game and proficiency in the second language, and are now being coached by veteran commentators Bruce McAvaney and Hamish McLachlan.

They have also helped find translations for some of the more unique terms like 'daisy cutter', 'corkie', 'fat side' and 'junk time'.

NAB’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sandra De Castro, said: “We are excited to offer these types of opportunities for fans through our AFL partnership. Last year we brought fans to the game through the NAB Stand-Ins and this year we are taking the game to them through FootifyFM.”

The campaign launches tonight with a series of TVCs following the commentators' training.
