Ice cream to recognise marriage equality

Ben & Jerry’s is renaming its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream ‘I Dough, I Dough’ to pledge its support for same-sex marriage in Australia.

The company has teamed up with Australian Marriage Equality and is also building a giant wedding cake in Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall for members of the public to ascend to demonstrate their support for the cause,.

Kalli Swaik, Ben & Jerry’s brand champion in Australia, said: “We’re immensely proud to support an issue that embodies so many of our core values. We champion equality above all else, believing that everyone in a loving relationship should be able to mark their commitment in marriage, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.”

Ivan Hinton, deputy director for Australian Marriage Equality, added: “We’re very happy to be working with Ben & Jerry’s to raise awareness about the importance of marriage equality and to ensure people have the information they need to vote for love.”

Ben & Jerry’s’ ‘Say I Dough’ website outlines the campaign.
