Antidote to dad jokes at the Melbourne International Comedy fest

The birth of a new baby is a momentous occasion but it has its negative side as with the birth of every child a new father unleashes his ‘dad jokes’.

The spread of terrible ‘dad jokes’ is the focus of a new Clemenger BBDO Melbourne ad for this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Directed by Robin Walters, the spot is set in a maternity ward and features a dad who makes a terrible joke about this son having his eyes and how he can now no longer see.

Susan Provan, festival director, said: “Every dad relishes in torturing their kids with bad jokes and dodgy puns.”

“Humour is incredibly subjective and for the sake of kids everywhere we encourage fathers to come along to this year’s Melbourne Comedy Festival and learn from the experts. Everyone else should come along to enjoy themselves hugely!”

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival will run from March 26 to April 20.
