The 2017 AMY Awards Finalists Announced

The Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) has announced the finalists for the 2017 edition of its annual AMY Awards.

Set to take place on Friday 7 July, the awards received over 200 entries, which will be put through a rigorous judging process carried out by a panel of national and international judges.

Among those recognised in this year’s breakthrough performance and overall excellence in digitally-led teams and entrepreneurs are StartVR, DriveYello, Businest, LUXit, 90 Seconds, Tipple, PAG Digital, AnalogFolk and Deakin University.

The three individuals in the running for the Digital Person of the Year award are Joe Purves (Digital Media Group), Timothy Whitfield (GroupM) and Steve Fanale (DriveYello).

R/GA Sydney leads the AMYs race, with six nominations in the bag for their work on brand giants Nike and Google.

Coming in a close second are VML and Clemenger BBDO with four nominations each.

The biggest awards of the AMYs, the Grand Prix and Hall of Fame, are not open for submissions and will be announced on the night of the event.

Mandy Eyles, general manager at AIMIA, said: “This year’s finalists were particularly impressive in the areas of digital innovation and without a doubt, our judges will be hard-pressed to pick the winners.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating these ground-breaking and inspiring achievements that speak volumes about the pool of talent we have in Australia.”
